Honeywell

L'origine de la Compagnie Honeywell se trouve dans l'exploitation d'un brevet pour thermostat déposé par A.M.Butz en 1863. Les thermostats font encore partie du noyau de l'entreprise. La compagnie se diversifia dans la production de munitions durant la seconde guerre mondiale et la guerre du Viet-Nam. Elle entra dans le monde des ordinateurs comme complément de son offre de systèmes de contrôle.		Honeywell's origin can be traced up to 1863, to a patent filed by A.M. Butz for a thermostat. Thermostats remain Honeywell core business since that time. The company diversified during WWII and Vietnam wars in ordnance production and became interested in computer through acquisitions as a complement of control systems
En 1955, Honeywell et Raytheon s'associèrent pour développer un calculateur de grande puissance sous l'étiquette Datamatic Corporation. Le premier D-1000 fut livré à la firme Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan en 1957.		In 1955, Honeywell and Raytheon founded a joint-venture, named Datamatic Corporation to produce large scale computer systems. The first Datamatic D-1000 was sold to Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan. In 1957, the 40% Raytheon interests in Datamatic were sold to Honeywell.
En 1962, NEC conclut un accord de licence sur les produits et la technologie des ordinateurs Honeywell valable 10 ans et renouvelé en 1972 et 1983.		In 1962, NEC concludes a licensing agreement with Honeywell for 10 years. It was resumed in 1972 and 1983
En 1964, une firme de mini-ordinateurs Computer Control Corporation annonce le DDP-116. Elle sera en 1966 rachetée par Honeywell et donnera naissance à la série 16.		In 1964, Computer Control Corporation introduces its DDP-16 minicomputer. CCC will be bought by Honeywell in 1966 and will bring the series 16.
En mai 1970, Honeywell rachète la division ordinateurs de General Electric -à l'exception de ses services de time-sharing- et acquiert par la même opération les opérations françaises et italiennes de GE.		In may 1970, Honeywell acquired the General Electric computer interests -except time-sharing services- and acquired in that operation French and Italian operations of GE.
La fusion avec GE se traduit par l'introduction d'une nouvelle gamme de produits en 1974, les series 60.		The GE-Honeywell merger lead to a new product line series 60 in 1974.

En 1985, Honeywell cède sa division ordinateurs à Bull, au début avec une participation minoritaire de NEC		In 1985, Honeywell Information Systems is acquired by Bull, NEC taking for some time a minority share.
