1947-1952

Louis Couffignal from the CNRS
lab of "mechanical computation" was able to have around 1947 the Logabax
company to build an elctronic computing machine, he designed.
While Louis Coufignac was then aware of initial computers in USA, his machine is quite different. He designs it by having independent parallels operators. A prototype with reduced length operators was demonstrated, but the building of a usable model was cancelled. |
The machine
de Couffignal operated on binary numbers that are stored in working
registers. There was no central memory., nor stored programs.
Its architecture may have influenced the design of the central processor of the Gamma 60 (independent operators working in parallel)
